You’ll find Center Street Brewing Company in a friendly little red cinderblock building with white trim just off Center Street. The structure, previously an auto repair shop, has been delightfully retrofitted: lots of bright, white wood on the walls, long tables for friendly gatherings, and a cool split pine drinking rail all around the perimeter – the remnants of trees felled by a 2018 tornado in Sleeping Giant State Park in nearby Hamden. The front features a small, informal seating area with more tables added to the side parking lot. All this work earned the owners and their builder a top honor for commercial rehabilitation in 2019. Center Street Brewing is true small batch crafter but produces a wide and flavorful mix of styles, some of which you can take home in cans. No food is made here, but it’s cool with BYO or you can order from one of the local eateries for delivery to the taproom.
THE STORY
Brothers/owners Peter and Tim Ford opened Center Street Brewing Company in March 2019, fulfilling Pete’s dream of having his own place to serve his longtime hometown. Peter is a longtime homebrewer/craft brewing who started in his garage, later apprenticed at the American Brewers Guild and now back in a former garage on Wallace Avenue making many people happy.
